Hi again, thats fortunate that you get to use the SEM once a week, I think I may only get one more session with it at my university. For the colouring im using Photoshop CS3 (other versions would prob be ok too), using the magic wand tool (set to 'add to selection';) to select all areas that I want to be a certain colour. To help selecting, once I have made a rough selection I press 'Q' to enter quick mask and then paint in the final areas I want selected. After that I just use colour balance to add colour to the area. Then start over for the next colour til its all done. Depends on the image, but it doesnt have to be very tedious, maybe 40mins to get an image roughly done. Hope that wasnt too patronising, but I have no idea of your PP experience :)
Would be great to do this sort of thing for a living, but then again your very own SEM costs a fair amount :P I would suggest getting as many decent images as you can while you have the chance! Will be interesting to see what you manage to get

Hi, yeah you seem to have some pretty cool SEM ones there. I wish I had more opportunities to use it but due to costs its gonna be a rare thing. Great to have in your portfolio tho. I think the main thing about photoshop is deciding whether to use a colour cast on the whole image or selectively colouring different components of it. And trying to keep it looking tasteful too :P Still playing around with the ones I've got too, so yeah please let me know anything you discover about them, Im pretty new to this too :)
